Configure company information and core policies
Set up the company profile, break rules, attendance policy, and payroll-ready defaults before your first rota goes live.
Why this matters
Your company policy layer controls how the app behaves across attendance, time calculations, rota consistency, and payroll preparation. If these settings are wrong, the rest of the workflow becomes noisy very quickly.
What to configure first
- Company display name and main business contact details.
- Timezone used for shifts, attendance, and payroll cutoffs.
- Break rules, including paid and unpaid break windows if your operation uses them.
- Bonus or allowance rules that apply by role or circumstance.
- Attendance rules such as clocking tolerance, review thresholds, and kiosk expectations.
Recommended policy decisions to make up front
- What counts as an approved paid break.
- How early or late arrivals should be handled operationally.
- Which roles attract allowances or special hourly rates.
- Who is allowed to approve timesheets and payroll runs.
Suggested setup sequence
- Open company settings and confirm the default timezone.
- Add break rules that reflect real site policy, not ideal policy.
- Add any standard bonus or allowance rules used in payroll.
- Review attendance settings before rolling out clock-in or kiosk flows.
- Document what each rule means internally so managers apply it consistently.

Policy design advice
Keep the first version simple. You can always add more detail later, but the first live version should be understandable by managers without a training session every time a shift exception appears.
Before you continue
Make sure the company policy decisions are agreed between operations, HR, and payroll. Then move into locations, departments, and teams so those policies have a structure to operate inside.
